I spent nearly 25 years at a public policy consulting firm, partnering with nonprofit organizations, associations, and state and local governments — first as a consultant and later as a vice president. Over those years, I developed a particular strength in research, analysis, and writing, and saw firsthand how carefully developed, well-structured material can bring focus and shape to complex projects.​​
As my responsibilities expanded to include managing people and projects, I found that my strongest and most rewarding contribution was in the substance of the work — digging into material, shaping it carefully, and seeing how thoughtful, well-developed work strengthened the broader effort.
